Let me guess how you landed on this page. I bet you went to Google and searched for ‘Throwing Knives in Movies,’ or maybe ‘Chuck Norris Throwing Knife.’ Yeah, can’t blame you. Pretty much any movie with a throwing knife scene is an instant classic. Let’s review the most memorable—and check out the closest matching throwing knives available on Grindworx.com.
Kill Bill
Let’s get this party started with a classic. Uma Thurman is The Bride. Vivica A. Fox is Vernita Green. The location—Pasadena, California. What unfolds can only be described as the most epic domestic fight scene in the history of cinema. Knives make an appearance from start to finish. Spoiler warning: Vernita Green gets a sharp, spinning blade to the sternum.
Magnificent Seven
From the 1960 modern classic to a reboot that can stand on its own two feet. The Magnificent Seven are a group of gunfighters hired to protect a peasant village. Yes, shoot-out fatalities abound, but one of the best moments is when Billy Rocks, awaiting the bullet of a dueling opponent, ditches his gun and uses a hairpin to take the sucker out with a viciously quick, underhand throw. LOL moment: when Billy attempts to teach knife fighting to the locals and scares them all sh*tless.
The Expendables
If you’re just looking for sheer volume when it comes to throwing knife scenes, there may be no match for The Expendables. I think Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham had a contractually mandated minimum of about 19 throwing knife scenes per movie. The only oversight I can come up with is that I don’t think they threw any axes. Bummer.
Gangs of New York
Bill. The. Butcher.
That’s really all you need to say when it comes to Gangs of New York. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this film is conservatively the greatest cinematic work in history. Daniel Day Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio. John C. Reilly and Brendan Gleeson. CAMERON DIAZ. Yeah, this one is insanely rewatchable.
About that knife throwing scene. Bill brings Jenny Everdeane (Diaz) onto the stage to show off his knife throwing skills. I’ve seen pretty accurate knife throwing in person, but I don’t know if anyone has the same mix of accuracy and power displayed by Bill.
The Matrix
Do you remember The Matrix fever? Back in 1999, if you were between the ages of 12 and 39 you definitely saw this movie in theaters, and I would be willing to bet you saw it more than once and probably also had those ugly glasses Morpheus always wore.
Best knife fighting moment: Trinity and Neo are battling Agent Smith on the roof of a building. It looks bleak, but Trinity is prepared. The dude sneaking up on Neo’s six gets one right between the eyes.
All the Other Flicks
I know, there are plenty of fantastic movies with knife scenes that didn’t make it onto this list—but can you blame me? It would take eons to go through them all. Here’s a list of all the other movies with knife throwing scenes that I could come up with:
- Army of One
- The Body Guard
- Captain America
- Crocodile Dundee
- Desperado
- Divergent
- Hidalgo
- Hunger Games
- Kung Fu Hustle
- Mr. and Mrs. Smith
- Resident Evil (Apocalypse and Afterlife)
- V for Vendetta

Was looking for the knives Danny trejo (machete) or in this case (the Mexican hitman with a lady tattooed on his chest) from desperado uses. I was excited when the knives were shown at the top of the page with the introduction but can’t seem to find anywhere that sells these darn throwing knives with crosses at the end lol
Unfortunately we don’t carry those particular knives, but we have some that are somewhat similar!

You can’t hardly beat John Wayne throwing a knife. 🙂
