SOG Brought Innovation to SHOT Show 2017
No doubt that SOG was one of the most pleasant surprises of SHOT Show 2017. With two new, super innovative multi-tools and a nice new lineup of knives, SOG brought out the big guns for the show. We’ll talk about the blades before anything else.
New SOG Made in the USA Knives
SOG introduced a nice new offering of Made in the USA knives at SHOT, which mostly feature linen micarta handles, and S35VN blades. This is the Strat Ops, the largest of the new knives. It definitely has some “Spec Elite Auto” feel to it. What do you guys think?
Next up is the Tac Ops. Like the Strat Ops this one has micarta handles and an S35VN blade. This definitely looks like a newer, nicer version of the SOG TAC of years past.
And finally for the new Made in the USA SOG knives is the Banner. Reminiscent of the SOG Zoom, the SOG Banner is an assisted opening knife with a push button lock.
And don’t let us forget about the very cool, very slim new SOG Ultra C-Ti. Use it as a money clip or don’t, if you can appreciate a thin, ultralight knife, you’re going to love this one. VG-10 steel and carbon fiber=win.
Multi Tools
SOG took a look at multi-tools and wanted to present a new way to use and carry them. And so, they have come up with the Baton series, as well as the Sync series of tools.
The SOG Baton series has everything from flashlights, to scissors, to drivers, to bottle openers, and more contained within a tool that is not much larger than a large pen or small flashlight. They can be clipped to your pocket, or carried in a sheath, or tossed in a backpack or toolbox. This is an exciting new addition from SOG for SHOT Show 2017!
Also new this year is the Sync line of multi tools. Another very innovative design, the Sync line can either be carried via the clip on the back of the base of the tool, or you can remove the clip, and the tool can be used as a belt buckle! It does seem a little gimmicky, but the fact that as long as you are wearing a belt, you have a multi tool on you is a strong reason to consider the Sync.
Lots of great, innovative stuff from SOG at SHOT this year! We can’t wait to get our hands on these to see how they really perform!
