You never really know when you are going to need a knife.  It’s always a good rule of thumb to have one on hand, as they can be useful in countless different scenarios.  They can be useful in everyday situations, like cutting open a box, or through rope.  But sometimes, they can even be used to save a life.

Most of us grab our EDC, clip it in our pocket and head out the door.  A normal habit, as commonplace as grabbing your keys, and wallet.  We don’t really think much of it.  But to some people and even animals, this every day ritual became a lifesaving one.  For example, in the video below a brave crew used their knives to save the life of a whale caught in a net.  They were daring enough to approach the whale, to cut it lose, even though the whale could easily kill them if it panicked.  Not an easy, or safe task, but thanks to these brave fisherman, the whale was able to live to see another day.  It’s videos like these that really make me proud to be a knife guy.  Knowing there are others out there like me, willing to use their knives for a greater cause.  Watch the video below and you will see what I am talking about.  Just seeing the joyful display from the whale at the end is enough for me to make sure I always have a knife in my pocket.

So what did you think?  Pretty impressive right?

For those of you who are unaware, the 24th of August is national knife day.  And we are celebrating by asking the question, what makes you a knife guy?  Is it videos like these that inspire you to always grab that knife on the way out of the door?  We sure hope so.  To show our support for all of you, we will be giving away a free knife with every purchase made on the 24th (while supplies last).  Make sure to log on early and finally purchase that knife you have had your eye on so you can get the free knife as well.  Show us just what exactly makes you a knife guy.  After all, you never know when you may need it.
