12 Knives You Can Fly With

***TSA has postponed the policy allowing small pocket knives on airplanes until further notice.
If you are a knife enthusiast (and judging by the fact that you’re reading this you probably are), then you don’t need me to tell you that TSA just came out with a new policy that will allow knives following specific guidelines on planes. Maybe you’re beyond stoked about the change, or maybe you could care less, but there’s no doubt that TSA’s new policy is pretty significant. After all, this is the first time since 9/11 that people in the United States have been allowed to carry small knives in the air.
Starting on April 25 of this year, small pocket knives will be allowed on planes if they adhere to the following criteria:
-The knife must not have a fixed or locking blade.
-The blade must be smaller than 2.36 inches long.
-The blade must be less than 1/2 an inch wide at its widest point.
-The knife cannot have a molded grip.
(TSA has emphasized that razors and box cutters are still prohibited.)
tsa guidelines

Obviously only a small percentage of knives will follow these guildelines, and it’s possible that none of the knives you own will work for air travel. We’ve compiled a list of some knives that do follow TSA’s guidelines for your convenience. This is not an exhaustive list.

  1. This is as arbitrary as pistol grips on rifles. My Spyderco Dragonfly is no more deadly than the knives above!

  2. I think it is funny that there is so much fuss over tiny knives. Razors are obvious bans due to obvious reasons. If people are afraid of someone carrying a blade bigger than 2.36 inches then what about the everyday stabbing weapons that I carry in every flight I take & no one has ever asked me about them except to borrow one for a moment. Yup, pens & sharp pencils. I always at least carry a metal pen for flights. That way I have a fighting chance in the event that some turd decides to try something.
